The Story
As a professional skier, performance - and above all my health - are everything. For this reason, I always have blood work done in spring and autumn to ensure that my micronutrient levels are optimum, allowing me to quickly compensate for potential deficiencies. Professional sport places varied and intense demands on the body, with training ranging from conditioning in the gym to off-season practice out on the glacier, as well as the racing phase itself. This makes individual and adapted supplementation particularly important for me. It allows me to make the best possible use of my reserves in competitions and to be in top condition to deliver the necessary performance. In February 2021, I suffered a slipped disc which required surgery. I knew that I had to support my body even more than usual during this period of recovery and recuperation.
The Journey
As advised by my personal osteopath Markus Schauer, various Biogena products have become part of my daily basic care, including 7-Salt Magnesium, as well as Vitamin D3, especially in the winter months. During the race phase, I give my body additional support with Ubiquinol CoQ10 100 mg vegan Gold for extra power. In order to accelerate the healing of my slipped disc, Markus Schauer advised me to take DoloZym® forte Gold, an enzyme complex designed to accelerate metabolic processes in the body through the proteolytic enzymes bromelain and papain. I was convinced that I could accelerate my regeneration still further with DoloZym® forte Gold.
The Success
I started taking DoloZym® forte Gold immediately after my operation and today, months later, I can say that not only were the healing and scar formation processes shortened; I’ve even returned to doing my strength training again as normal. I firmly believe that supplementing with micronutrients helps to support the necessary bioprocesses in the body, leading to faster success in regeneration and wound healing, as well as providing the much-needed boost before a race.
Lifestyle Changes
Especially in competitive and amateur sports, the right balance between calorie intake, macro- and micronutrients is the basis for good performance. This is why, especially as an athlete, it is essential to have a varied and, above all, colourful diet.
