Seasonal Allergies

Pollen allergy and rhinitis

The Story

Grasses, tree pollen, house dust - for almost nine years I suffered from severe allergies. My complaints were so severe that I had to lock myself up in my own house for weeks on end to escape my allergies. My eyes were so swollen at times that I could no longer open them. Blisters even formed on the soles of my feet when I walked across grassy areas, and my nose was constantly blocked. One doctor after another prescribed me countless medicines. However, I never noticed any relief from my complaints, quite the opposite. I could swallow the tablets by the boxful without noticing any improvement in my symptoms.

The Journey

When I attended a week-long online medical conference on allergies a few years ago, I was particularly impressed by the recommendation of one particular doctor. According to him, allergies always originate in the intestine, which is why one should not overload the intestine with a constant supply of food and should only supply the body with as much food as it needs for energy. The online lectures also recommended some Biogena products to take for allergy relief. I followed all the doctor’s recommendations, and not only took the various recommendations such as Acacia tree fibers from ColonBalance lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, proteolytic enzymes and MSM daily, but also changed my diet and ate only one substantial meal per day.

The Success

After two to three weeks, I felt a noticeable improvement in my allergies. Today, I sit in the middle of my flowering garden in spring and have no complaints. My allergies have not only improved, they have completely disappeared, every single one. That would have been unimaginable if someone had told me that nine years ago. Not only do I have my quality of life back, I can also enjoy the warm months again and rejoice in the blossoming of nature. The medical conference, doctor’s recommendations and micronutrients have completely changed my life. I’m very grateful for that.

Lifestyle Changes

Especially with allergies, it is important to strive for a healthy intestinal flora and to pay attention to the intake of fibre-rich and fermented foods. Avoiding allergens in the diet, such as foods high in histamine, can help to relieve the gut, as can practicing periods of food abstinence. Tobacco smoke irritates the mucous membranes in the nose. If you already suffer from allergic rhinitis, smoking will make it worse.

The Scientific Assessment

By Mag. Ines Schachenhofer

Nowadays, the importance of the gut in the development of allergies is well known. The intestine plays an important role, especially in the field of immune response. This is why it is important to support the intestine with both lactobacilli and bifidobacteria as well as dietary fibre, which nourishes the good intestinal bacteria. Enzymes such as bromelain and papain help to control excessive inflammation and normalise allergy-related inflammatory reactions.
